NC500 - GETTING THERE
Getting to the our starting point for the NC500 was a very roundabout approach including some of the Scottish Islands on The West coast of Scotland Including the Inner and outer Hebrides. We deliberately did not set out a planned route and this worked for us extremely well. Not deciding where to go next till the morning(s) of departure made this trip ridiculously relaxed and enjoyable. Even our time scale was entirely flexible ranging from 21 to 28 days.
Wanlochhead.

Scotland's highest Pub - The Wanlockhead Inn
From the Wanlockhead Inn, Travelling along the Mennock pass to Sanquhar and Kirkconnel.

Kirkconnel.

Kirkconnel was Fraser's birthplace in Scotland, Born in "The Square" 16 St Connel's Square. Pictured above his favorite swimming hole, known as the "Orange Stane" I believe it also has some other non-flattering name. To the right The Old "Covenanter's church and Graveyard"

A good walk up the Baker's Burn" we found this Dragon, Someone had obviously set it upright in the middle of the burn to good effect.
